Corinna & The Cosmopolitans
was formed around self-proclaimed cosmopolitan and diva Corinna Kramer. Her Cosmopolitans are true men of the world who are at home in a wide range of styles and genres from around the globe. Jazz, pop, blues, bossa nova, tango, other South American styles, you name it. They are currently touring the theaters with their recent project ‘The Strange Life of Peggy Lee’, a show with iconic songs from Miss Lee’s phenomenal career and tragic life marked by addiction and heartache.
World citizen Corinna Kramer has lived in New York, London and Amsterdam. Especially New York, with its many bars and clubs, was a great inspiration. Jay Clayton’s ‘scat lab’ for bebop and free jazz, the Mannes School of Music, and workshops with Mark Murphy and Judy Niemack were great to expand her jazz chops. As was the free improv scene in Brooklyn.
After 10 years abroad, Corinna is back in Amsterdam, playing the different venues and jam sessions. With her band Corinna & The Cosmopolitans she aims for a broad repertoire of jazz, blues, pop and bossa. Corinna holds a master degree in Musicology, writing her thesis on flamenco music she developed a passion for South American styles such as bolero, tango and cha cha cha.
